Free dopamine (DA) and its metabolites, homovanillic acid (HVA) and 3–4 dihydroxyphenylacetic acid (DOPAC), have been measured and compared with norepinephrine (NE) concentrations in rat peripheral tissues using high performance liquid chromatography with electrochemical detection (HPLC-ED). Detectable amounts of DA and its metabolites were found in all the analyzed tissues.
