Abstract Some non-dimensional analytical relations are used as a framework to study the performance of reusable single-stage-to-orbit vehicles which have air-breathing combined-cycle engines. A horizontal take-off (winged) vehicle using air-turborocket engines is investigated in most detail. The results of are compared with a similarly-sized, reusable rocket launch vehicle.
