Performance limit of monolithically integrated Gaussian modulated coherent states quantum key distribution receiver in silicon-on-insulator CMOS

Abstract

For the silicon-photonics implementation of a continuous-variable quantum key distribution system using Gaussian modulated coherent states, we investigate the performance limit of balanced receivers in the presence of thermal noise, predicting a multi-gigabit/sec secure data rate in 28nm SOI CMOS technologies for monolithic integration.
