The dynamical response of an aircraft subject to gust perturbations is a key element in a preliminary design phase. In particular, the loads induced by gusts along the wing should not exceed some limit values and should even ideally be decreased. Active control is one lever to address this problem. However, evaluating the benefit that active control may bring considering some actuators characteristics or some delay in the loop is a difficult task, especially in the early design phase. Model-Predictive Gust Load Alleviation Controller for a Highly Flexible Aircraft
A unified dynamics framework is developed to represent the full six-degrees-of-freedom rigid body alongwith the structural dynamics, allowing for an integrated control design to account for maneuverability (flying qualities) and aeroelasticity simultaneously, leading to a new and improved configuration for a very flexible aircraft. Model Predictive Control for Gust Load Alleviation
For economical and ecological reasons aircraft are required to become more efficient by reducing fuel consumption and CO$_2$ emissions. One way to achieve these objectives is to decrease the weightExpand
Interpolatory Methods for Generic BizJet Gust Load Alleviation Function
Contributions show how the rational data and function interpolation framework is a pivotal tool to construct (frequency-limited) reduced order dynamical models appropriate for model-based control design and to accurately discretise controllers in view of on-board computer-limited implementation. Abstract The paper describes an efficient method for solving an optimal control problem that arises in robust model-predictive control. The problem is to design the input sequence that minimizes theExpand
A Generalized State-Space Aeroservoelastic Model Based on Tangential Interpolation
In this work, a new approach for the generation of a generalized state-space aeroservoelastic model based on tangential interpolation is presented. The resulting system of differential algebraicExpand
Experiments and Analysis for a Gust Generator in a Wind Tunnel
An experimental investigation was made of the gust field generated by a rotating slotted cylinder installed in the Duke University low-speed, closed-circuit wind tunnel. The system has a very simpleExpand
Time-limited H2-optimal model order reduction
It is illustrated that the newly proposed iterative method can lead to a better reduced-order models compared to the unrestricted iterative rational Krylov subspace algorithm in a finite time interval of interest. Expand

H2-optimal model reduction of MIMO systems
The gradients of the H2-norm of the approximation error are derived and it is shown how stationary points can be described via tangential interpolation. Expand
