The systems under study are broadband wireless fixed access (BFWA) systems over multipath fading channels. Conventional detection methods like coherent and non-coherent detection are examined theoretically for both QPSK and 16-QAM modulated BFWA systems in this paper and shown to yield unsatisfactory performance. The theoretical analysis for different algorithms are validated by Monte-Carlo simulations and proved to be accurate.
