An ALSCAL multidimensional scaling analysis in Euclidean space revealed that three orthogonal perceptual dimensions can account for the judged tactile dissimilarities of raised-dot patterns. Through magnitude estimates of various perceptual attributes, it was determined that the three dimensions consist of blur, roughness, and clarity.
