The distribution and ontogenetic development of several neuropeptides such as enkephalin, substance P, somatostatin, neuropeptide Y, and of monoamines such as serotonin and catecholamines in the facial nucleus of the rat were investigated with immunocytochemistry. The neuropeptides were concentrated in certain subnuclei.
