The research was conducted at Laboratory of Bioecology of Parasitoid and Predator, Department of Plant Protection, Faculty of Agriculture, IPB. Ten parasitoids of the same age and cohort were used in this experiment. Deprivation of hosts were done for 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 days at the beginning and toward the end of their life. All hosts were replaced every 24 hours. Result indicated that host deprivation affects the reproductive capacity of Snellenius manilae . Even though parasitoids were…

Tipe Peneluran, Pengaruh Lama Ketiadaan Inang, dan Pakan terhadap Keragaan Reproduksi Parasitoid Anagrus Nilaparvatae Pang Et Wang (Hymenoptera: Mymaridae)

Female wasps varied from one to three days, with higher and lower values consecutively for 9 and 18 hours of host deprivation period, including realized fecundity, parasitization rate, and longevity of female wasp.

Pengaruh Umur Parasitoid Xanthocampoplex SP. (Hymenoptera: Ichneumonidae) Terhadap Jumlah Larva Chilo Sacchariphagus Bojer (Lepidoptera: Crambidae) Di Laboratorium

The research was held at Laboratory of Sugarcane Research and DevelopmentSei Semayang, Binjai, North Sumatera from November 2013 until January 2014 and the method used Randomized Complete Design with two factors and three replications.

EFISIENSI PARASITISASI INANG SPODOPTERA LITURA (F.) OLEH ENDOPARASITOID SNELLENIUS MANILAE ASHMEAD DI LABORATORIUM

The effect of host larval stage preference, the number of host exposure and the age of parasitoid on the resulting parasitization was described and the survival of progeny was recorded.

The dynamics of egg production, oviposition and resorption in a parasitoid wasp

It was found that the wasp quickly made up for eggs oviposited by increased egg production, and it was proposed that wasps that experienced good quality environments would maintain more mature eggs ready for oviposition.

Influence of host deprivation on egg load and oviposition behaviour of Brachymeria intermedia, a parasitoid of gypsy moth

In B. intermedia both the physiological state of the parasitoid (age and egg load) and the informational state (in this case host‐availability and experience) interact to shape oviposition behaviour.

Effects and interactions of temperature, host deprivation and adult feeding on the longevity of the parasitoid Venturia canescens (Hymenoptera: Ichneumonidae)

The interactions between feeding, host presence and temperature proved to be significant and improved the effectiveness of V. canescens as a biological control agent of stored product pests.

Egg resorption behaviour by the solitary egg parasitoid Anaphes nitens under natural conditions

The results suggest that under stress conditions, such as low temperature and food shortage, A. nitens females practice egg resorption, probably to save energy.

Egg maturation, egg resorption and the costliness of transient egg limitation in insects

The hypothesis that egg costs are generally less significant in synovigenic insects, which can replenish oocyte supplies through continuous egg maturation, is addressed and appears to broaden the range of conditions under which costly egg limitation occurs.

Fundamentals of entomology

The foundations of entomology are studied in detail in order to establish a clear picture of the relationships between different types of insects and each other.
