Penetrating artery territory pontine infarction.

Abstract

Pontine infarcts account for 25% of lacunar strokes. The primary morphologies are wedge-shaped tegmental, basal, and tegmentobasal infarcts, caused by disease of the paramedian basilar branches, and smaller, circumscribed lacunar infarcts attributed to lipohyalinosis.
