Trichuris suis, the swine whipworm, can cause severe diarrhea, anorexia, and performance losses owing to reduced average daily gains and decreased feed efficiency. Severity of disease and impact on performance are related to infectious dose or concurrent infections. Trichuris suis is present in modern swine operations, but is an uncommon and perhaps neglected diagnosis.
