Peer review report 1 on "Single incision transumbilical laparoscopic varicocelectomy versus the conventional laparoscopic technique: A randomized clinical study.".

Abstract

With regards to the patients, were there any general criteria for eligibility for surgery; all patients are relatively young and slim. Were other treatments advised in older patients? Furthermore it may worth giving an average comorbidity score (e.g. Charlson or ASA) to further characterise the patient population. What was the length of follow up and do the authors know why the 13 patients were lost to follow up? How many surgeons performed the operations and was there any difference in experience in surgeons performing the SILS
