On October 17, 1987, the founder of the International Movement ATD Fourth World, Father Joseph Wresinski, was accompanied by 100,000 supporters when he unveiled a commemorative stone on Paris’s Plaza of Liberty and Human Rights. On this stone were engraved the following words: “Wherever men and women are condemned to live in poverty, human rights are violated.
