Linebacker II, the United States air operation against North Vietnam during December 1972, remains a controversial operation. The campaign succeeded in forcing North Vietnam back to the negotiating table before the US Congress could convene to force a unilateral US withdrawal. However, the price was high. A Game Theoretic Model for the Optimal Location of Integrated Air Defense System Missile Batteries

Testing results indicate the enumeration approach to be severely limited for realistically sized instances, so a customized heuristic over a set of small instances having deliberate parametric variations in a designed experiment is tested, comparing its performance to an exhaustive enumeration algorithm.
