Diseases like tropical ataxic neuropathy and endemic goitre have been reported to have definite correlation with a chronic ingestion of cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz). The toxicity of cassava has been attributed to its two cyanogenic glycosides, linamarin and lotaustralin.
