Pathological fracture in hyperthyroidism.


A unique case of a young woman with severe osteopenia secondary to thyrotoxicosis who developed a pathological humeral fracture is presented. Osteoclastic resorption is apparently directly stimulated by thyroid hormones. Antithyroid therapy corrects the derangement.
