Pathogenesis and treatment of enterococcal infections.

Abstract

The pathogenesis and treatment of enterococcal infections are reviewed. Bactericidal activity is needed for treatment of endocarditis and meningitis, but penicillin and even vancomycin are not reliably bactericidal for enterococci.
