The phosphatidylglycerophosphatase (EC 3.1.3.27) activity of rat liver mitochondria was investigated by assaying the conversion of 14C-labelled phosphatidylglycerophosphate to phosphatidylglycerol. The activity was associated with a mitochondrial membrane fraction and could not be released into solution employing techniques applicable to a peripheral membrane protein.
