In this work, we investigate the efficacy of using paravirtualizing software for performance-critical HPC kernels and applications. We present a comprehensive performance evaluation of Xen, a low-overhead, Linux-based, virtual machine monitor, for paravirtualization of HPC cluster systems at LLNL.
