The design parameters of a skin–implantable planar inverted–F antenna (PIFA) operating in the 402–405 MHz Medical Implant Communications Service (MICS) band are studied and their impact on the exhibited resonance characteristics is assessed. Based on the parametric results, two novel MICS PIFAs are proposed for skin–implantation.
