Cardio/cerebrovascular diseases (CVD) have become one of the major health issue in our societies. Recent studies show the existing clinical tests to detect CVD are ineffectual as they do not consider different stages of platelet activation or the molecular dynamics involved in platelet interactions. Further they are also incapable to consider inter-individual variability. A physical description of platelets deposition was introduced recently in Chopard et al. (2017), by integrating fundamental…

Interpretable pathological test for Cardio-vascular disease: Approximate Bayesian computation with distance learning
- Computer Science
- 2020
This work proposes a stochastic platelet deposition model and an inferential scheme for uncertainty quantification of these parameters using Approximate Bayesian Computation and distance learning and shows that the methodology can learn biologically meaningful parameters, which are the specific dysfunctioning parameters in each type of patients, from data collected from healthy volunteers and patients.

A stochastic platelet deposition model and an inferential scheme to estimate the biologically meaningful model parameters using approximate Bayesian computation with a summary statistic that maximally discriminates between different types of patients are proposed.
Calibrating models of cancer invasion: parameter estimation using approximate Bayesian computation and gradient matching
- Computer ScienceRoyal Society Open Science
- 2021
Two different methods to estimate parameters within a partial differential equation model of cancer invasion are presented, a likelihood-free approach associated with approximate Bayesian computation and a two-stage gradient matching method based on smoothing the data with a generalized additive model and matching gradients from the GAM to those from the model.

The transport of platelets in blood is commonly assumed to obey an advection-diffusion equation. Here we propose a disruptive view, by showing that the random part of their velocity is governed by a…
Score Matched Conditional Exponential Families for Likelihood-Free Inference∗
- Computer Science
- 2020
This work generates parameter-simulation pairs from the model independently on the observation, and uses them to learn a conditional exponential family likelihood approximation, which can be used as summaries in ABC, and applies this method to a challenging model from meteorology.
Score Matched Neural Exponential Families for Likelihood-Free Inference
- Computer Science, Mathematics
- 2020
This work introduces a new way to learn ABC statistics: first, parameter-simulation pairs from the model independently on the observation are generated; then, Score Matching is used to train a neural conditional exponential family to approximate the likelihood, the largest class of distributions with fixed-size sufficient statistics.
