Which changes are needed to render all genera of the German flora monophyletic?
The monophyly of all genera of vascular plants found in Germany is assessed and could serve as a guide to the likely consequences of systematic research for the taxonomy of the German flora and the floras of neighbouring countries.
Palynological observations on the genus Scorzonera L. (Asteraceae) from north-east Anatolia (Turkey)
Pollen morphology of the 13 taxa of Scorzonera L. (Asteraceae) from Turkey was investigated by using light (LM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and PCA analysis based on the 16 palynological traits showed that polar axis, equatorial diameter, pollen diameter, col pus length, colpus width, and exine and spine length were the most important characters in explaining total variation among the examined taxa.

The inclusion of certain, previously under studied Asian genera and species, especially those from China, provides useful new information about the extent of pollen morphological diversity within and between genera in these subtribes, and may contribute to a better understanding of the systematics of these groups.

The ndhF phylogeny indicates that Tolpis is not monophyletic because two continental species, T. capensis from south-central Africa and Madagascar and T. staticifolia from central and southeast Europe, do not occur in the strongly supported core TolPis clade, in agreement with recent suggestions based on macromorphology and palynology that these two species should be excluded from TolpIS.
