Paleomagnetism and Magnetic Fabric of the Leaside and Sunnybrook Tills near Toronto, Ontario

The late Wisconsin Leaside till and the early Wisconsin Sunnybrook till found near Toronto, Ontario, were examined to determine their paleomagnetic characteristics. More than 300 specimens were tested; they showed that both tills retain a stable primary remanent magnetization of detrital origin (DRM) after alternating field demagnetization. The site mean remanence directions give pole positions of lat 72.6° N., long 167.7° W. (8.5°, 11.1°) for the Leaside till and of lat 71.8° N., long 83.8° E… CONTINUE READING
