The tumor suppressor PTEN is one of the most commonly inactivated genes in human cancer. PTEN, an inositol phosphatase specific for the products of PI 3-kinase, is known to inhibit PDGF-mediated vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMC) proliferation and migration.
