  • A chitinous phyllocarid carapace, Pseudoarctolepis sharpi, n. gen., n. sp., is described from the Wheeler shale of Utah. Anterior and posterior dorsal proc- esses of the carapace suggest a common relationship with Isoxys, Tuzoia and Dioxycaris. The new phyllocarid differs significantly in possessing a pair of long, spine-like outgrowths from the sides of the carapace. This feature is believed to be of greater than generic taxonomic value and a new family, Pseudoarctolepidae, is proposed. In… CONTINUE READING
