We present the first results of a long-term program of a radial velocity (RV) study of Cepheid Polaris (F7 Ib), with the aim of finding the amplitude and period of its pulsations and the nature of its secondary periodicities. A total of 264 new precise RV measurements were obtained during 2004–2007 with the fiber-fed echelle spectrograph Bohyunsan Observatory Echelle Spectrograph (BOES) of the 1.8 m telescope at Bohyunsan Optical Astronomy Observatory (BOAO) in Korea. We find a pulsational RV…
Detection of the 128-day radial velocity variations in the supergiant α Persei - Rotational modulations, pulsations, or a planet?
Aims. In order to search for and study the nature of the low-amplitude and long-periodic radial velocity (RV) variations of massive stars, we have been carrying out a precise RV survey for
Detection of an exoplanet around the evolved K giant HD 66141
Aims. We have been carrying out a precise radial velocity (RV) survey for K giants to search for and study the origin of the lowamplitude and long-periodic RV variations. Methods. We present

We investigate temporally changing variability amplitudes and the multi-periodicity of the type-I Cepheid Polaris using 161 high-precision radial velocity (RV) and bisector inverse span (BIS)
Low-amplitude and long-period radial velocity variations in giants HD 3574, 63 Cygni, and HD 216946
Aims. We study the low-amplitude and long-period variations in evolved stars using precise radial velocity measurements. Methods. The high-resolution, fiber-fed Bohyunsan Observatory Echelle
Planetary companion in K giant Sigma Persei
We report the detection of an exoplanet candidate in orbit around sigma Persei from a radial velocity (RV) survey. The system exhibits periodic RV variations of 579.8 +/- 2.4 days. The purpose of the
The Pulsation Mode of the Cepheid Polaris
A previously derived photometric parallax of 10.10  ±  0.20 mas, d = 99  ±  2 pc, is confirmed for Polaris by a spectroscopic parallax derived using line ratios in high dispersion spectra for the
PLANETARY COMPANION IN K GIANT σ PERSEI ∗
We report the detection of an exoplanet candidate in orbit around σ Persei from a radial velocity (RV) survey. The system exhibits periodic RV variations of 579.8 ± 2.4 days. The purpose of the
Evolutionary status of Polaris
Hydrodynamic models of short--period Cepheids were computed to determine the pulsation period as a function of evolutionary time during the first and third crossings of the instability strip. The
Polaris: History of Pulsation Activity since Discovery
The pulsation activity of small-amplitude Cepheid Alpha UMi (Polaris) during the period of its radial velocity observations has been analyzed. In the 20th century, Polaris was known to demonstrate a
LONG-PERIOD VARIATIONS IN THE RADIAL VELOCITY OF SPECTROSCOPIC BINARY M GIANT μ URSAE MAJORIS
We report that the spectroscopic binary μ Ursae Majoris (μ UMa) has secondary RV variations of 471.2 days in addition to those of 230.0 days already known. Keplerian orbit analysis yields stellar

The Radial Velocity and Spectral Line Bisector Variability of Polaris
We present precise stellar radial velocity measurements for the Cepheid-type star Polaris taken in 1992–1993. The peak-to-peak amplitude of the pulsations was 1.555 ± 0.056 km s-1 in epoch 1992.4 and
The Period Changes of Polaris
The evolutionary changes in pulsation period for the Cepheid Polaris are reinvestigated using archival observational material (radial velocities, photometry, and eye observations) over the interval
The radial-velocity variations of Polaris - A Cepheid leaving the instability strip
The radial velocities of Cepheid Polaris are measured using 237 Reticon spectra. The data show a pulsation period of 3.9746 + or - 0.0008 days and RV amplitude 2K = 1.50 + or - 0.08 km/s. It is shown
Goodbye to Polaris the Cepheid
New radial velocities and uvby photometry for Polaris are presented. These reveal that the pulsational amplitude of Polaris had declined to 0.59±0.19 km s −1 and 0.010±0.002 mag in V by 1992.
Astrophysical Quantities of Cepheid Variables Measured with the Navy Prototype Optical Interferometer
We present mean angular diameters for two Cepheid variables, α UMi and ζ Gem, determined with the Navy Prototype Optical Interferometer (NPOI). We present linear radii for these Cepheids and two

Current spectroscopic techniques yield Doppler-shift errors of 10 to 50 m s-1, barely adequate to detect reflex velocities caused by Jupiter-like and lower-mass planets. We describe a technique which
