Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR) beta-null mice exhibit exacerbated epithelial cell proliferation and enhanced sensitivity to skin carcinogenesis, suggesting that ligand activation of PPARbeta will inhibit keratinocyte proliferation.
