The molecular genetic events underlying thyroid carcinogenesis are poorly understood. Mice harboring a knock-in dominantly negative mutant thyroid hormone receptor β (TRβPV/PV mouse) spontaneously develop follicular thyroid carcinoma similar to human thyroid cancer.
