The nucleophilic-addition-type polymerization of phenylalanine (Phe) N-carboxyanhydride(NCA) initiated by poly(N-alkylglycine) was much faster than those initiated by corresponding low-molecular-weight amines, and the polymerization rate increased with increasing degree of polymerization of poly(N-alkylglycine) initiator.
