When words have ceased to bear witness to what takes place in the Realm of the Living, we shun them – with the possible exception of the philologists, for they have always had a weakness for words as cadavers. In the following analysis of the role of media in the metamorphosis of modern Danish I am particularly interested in the spread of English and the evolution of media-bound varieties of language.
