In this paper, a novel control algorithm for three-phase four-wire shunt active power filter for the compensation of instantaneous harmonic current components in nonlinear loads is presented. Fundamental signal extraction is carried out using Harmonic Tuned Filter (HTF) without the Phase Locked Loop (PLL). HTF can efficiently determine the fundamental signal components from distorted voltage or current signal.
