Renal allograft rejections are often treated with high doses of prednisone or prednisolone. The solubility of the biologically active prednisolone is poor. Therefore prednisolone is given i.v. as prednisolone disodium phosphate (prednisolone phosphate) or as prednisolone sodium tetrahydrophthalate (prednisolone phthalate).
