OBJECTIVES Autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) is a severe necroinflammatory liver disease associated with significant mortality. Although loss of hepatocytes is generally recognised as a key trigger of liver inflammation and liver failure, the regulation of hepatic cell death causing AIH remains poorly understood.
