Low M(r) phosphotyrosine protein phosphatase (LMW-PTP) is a 18 kDa cytosolic enzyme widely distributed in eukaryotic cells. LMW-PTP catalyses the hydrolysis of phosphotyrosine residues and overexpression of the enzyme in normal and transformed cells inhibits cell proliferation.
