We collected 396 Gobius bucchichii, Steindachner, 1870 (Teleostei, Gobiidae) in and around the marine reserve of Cerbère-Banyuls, in the southeast of France, between March and July 1994. Five species of adult parasites were found: one acanthocephalan, Acanthocephaloides propinquus Dujardin, 1845 (Acanthocephala, Arhythmacanthidae); one nematode, Cucullanus sp. (Nematoda, Cucullanidae); and three species of digenetic trematodes, Helicometra sp. (Digenea, Opeccelidae), Derogenes sp. (Digenea… Expand
Occurrence of acanthocephalans in Teleost fishes of Gemlik Bay, Sea of Marmara, Turkey
TLDR
Four species not previously recorded in fish of Turkish waters were found: Solearhynchus soleae (Echinorhynchidae), Acanthhocephaloides propinquus, Paracanthocephaleides kostylewi (Arhythmacanthidae), and Longicollum pagrosomi (Pomphorhyschidae). Expand
Some parasitic copepods of selected Teleost and Chondrichthyan fishes from the Tunisian gulfs
TLDR
The examination of 415 specimen belonging to twelve species of Teleostean fish and seven species of Chondrichthyan fish collected from the Tunisian coasts enabled us to identify 10 species of parasitic copepods. Expand
The Copepod parasite of the gills of four teleost fishes caught from the gulf of Annaba (Algeria)
TLDR
The aim of this work is to analyze species of copepod parasitic richness, studyCopepod specificity and evaluate host epidemiological characters by calculating infestation. Expand
A review of the genus Helicometra Odhner, 1902 (Digenea: Opecoelidae: Plagioporinae) with a key to species including Helicometra overstreeti n. sp. from the cusk-eel Luciobrotula corethromycter Cohen, 1964 (Ophidiiformes: Ophidiidae) from the Gulf of Mexico
TLDR
This study describes a new species of Helicometra from the cusk-eel Luciobrotula corethromycter Cohen, 1964 collected from 1,280 m depth in the northwestern Gulf of Mexico, and it represents the first report of a parasite from the genus LuciOBrotula Smith and Radcliffe in Radcliffe, 1913. Expand
Les Copépodes parasites des poissons téléostéens du littoral Est-algérien
TLDR
Analysis of the biodiversity, according to the ecological and biological characteristics of the whole host species, shows that the benthic, migrating, gregarious, and omnivorous fishes are parasitized by a great number of species; the differences between the average specific richness (MSR) and the Kruskal Walis test are statistically significant. Expand
Sympatric species of Deretrema Linton, 1910: D. combesae n. sp. and D. combesorum n. sp. (Digenea: Zoogonidae) from the manybar goatfish Parupeneus multifasciatus (Quoy & Gaimard, 1824) (Perciformes: Mullidae) from New Caledonia.
TLDR
Two sympatric species of Deretrema are described from the manybar goatfish Parupeneus multifasciatus from off New Caledonia, South Pacific, but one of the species, D. combesae n. Expand
Effect of parasitism on the length / weight relationship and the condition index in two groups of Pagellus acarne ( Risso , 1826 ) ( Perciformes Sparidae ) , parasitized and unparasitized specimens , from the Eastern Coast of Algeria
Received 17.10.2017; accepted 03.12.2017; printed 30.12.2017 In the present study, the relationship between parasitism and some host biological parameters is studied for the first time in PagellusExpand
Copepod parasites of gills of 14 teleost fish species caught in the gulf of Annaba (Algeria)
TLDR
The analysis of species richness according to some ecological, biological and taxonomical variables (Diet, Displacement, Way of life, Family) of the whole of hosts are reported in this study and the differences between mean specific richness (MSR) of all variables is statically significant. Expand
Site influence in parasite distribution from fishes of the Bonifacio Strait Marine Reserve (Corsica Island, Mediterranean Sea)
TLDR
The spatial distribution of parasite communities from teleost fishes was studied in the Bonifacio Strait Marine Reserve with different protection levels, suggesting that the parasite life traits history remained a fundamental determinant in the community composition. Expand
Patterns of species diversity in the gastrointestinal helminths of a coral reef fish, Epinephelus merra (Serranidae), from French Polynesia and the south Pacific Ocean
TLDR
Investigation of large-scale patterns of species diversity in the gastrointestinal helminth faunas of the coral reef fish Epinephelus merra found Digenean community diversity in coral reef fishes was greater in the western South Pacific, following similar patterns in free-living species, but overall species diversity of camallanid nematodes of coral Reef fishes does not appear to have been similarly affected. Population dynamics of the metacercarial stage of the bucephalid trematode, Labratrema minimus (Stossich, 1887) from Salses-Leucate lagoon (France) during the cercarial shedding period.
TLDR
The population dynamics of Labratrema minimus (Stossich, 1887) metacercariae were studied in its second intermediate fish host Atherina boyeri during the cercarial shedding period and it was deduced that the infection pattern observed over the May-September period was a dynamic process controlled by availability of infective cerbariae. Age, growth, and reproduction of the rock goby, Gobius paganellus L., in the Isle of Man
TLDR
The short breeding season of G. paganellus in the Isle of Man is held to be a result of proximity to the northern limit of distribution of this species, and it is suggested that a similar life history is exhibited by other British species of Gobius. Expand
Abundance/host size relationship in a fish trematode community.
TLDR
In two parasite/host systems, infections were observed from the lowest size classes of the sample, with a clear tendency to an increase of abundance in older fish, and in four others, parasites appear only above a rather high threshold class, young individuals never being infected. Expand
Pluriannual analysis of the reserve effect on ichthyofauna in the Scandola natural reserve (Corsica, Northwestern Mediterranean)
From July 1988 to September 1992, Scuba divers used a non-destructive sampling method to study the fish communities of rocks and Posidonia oceanica seagrass beds, in Scandola Marine Reserve. SitesExpand

TLDR
Evidence is accumulating, however, which supports the notion that some of the animal parasites, and particularly the Protozoa, can act as severe pathogens, causing direct mortality or rendering the hosts more vulnerable to other environmental or biotic Stressors. Expand
