}Objective—Thioredoxin-1 (Trx-1), one important antioxidative enzyme in endothelial cells, is required for apoptosis inhibition. Apoptosis induction is dependent on cytoskeletal changes, which depend on actin rearrangements. Therefore, we wanted to elucidate whether a physical interaction exists between Trx-1 and actin and what the functional consequences are. Methods and Results—Combined immunoprecipitation/mass spectrometry identified actin as a new binding partner for Trx-1. A separate pool…

Silencing thioredoxin1 exacerbates damage of astrocytes exposed to OGD/R by aggravating apoptosis through the Actin–Ras2–cAMP–PKA pathway
- BiologyThe International journal of neuroscience

It is concluded that Trx1 protects astrocytes against apoptotic injury induced by OGD/R, and this protective effect may be partly related to the Ras2-cAMP-PKA signaling pathway.

This data indicates that APEX1 inhibits apoptosis in endothelial cells by reducing Cathepsin D (CatD) cleavage, potentially by binding to the unprocessed form, and apoptosis rates are decreased.

Cambogin exerts anti-proliferative and pro-apoptotic effects on breast adenocarcinoma through the induction of NADPH oxidase 1 and the alteration of mitochondrial morphology and dynamics
- BiologyOncotarget
- 2016
The inhibitory effect of cambogin on cell proliferation is associated with the loss of mitochondrial transmembrane potential (ΔΨm) and mitochondrial fragmentation, and data indicate that the anti-proliferative and pro-apoptotic effect ofcambog in breast cancer cells is mediated via inducing NOX1-dependent ROS production and the dissociation of ASK1 and Trx1.
