We study the interplay between the Kondo effect and (color) superconductivity in doped Dirac metals with magnetic impurities and in quark matter with colorful impurities. We first point out that the overscreened Kondo effect arises in the normal state of these systems. Next the (color) superconducting gap is incorporated as a mean field and the phase diagram for a varying gap and temperature is constructed nonperturbatively. A rich phase structure emerges from a competition of effects unique to…

We show that effective coupling strengths between ungapped and gapped quarks in the two-flavor color superconducting (2SC) phase are renormalized by logarithmic quantum corrections. We obtain a set

### QCD Kondo excitons

The quantum chromodynamics (QCD) Kondo effect is a quantum phenomenon in which heavy quarks ($c$, $b$) exist as impurity particles in quark matter composed of light quarks ($u$, $d$, $s$) at

### Single magnetic impurity in tilted Dirac surface states

• Physics
• 2018
We utilize variational method to investigate the Kondo screening of a spin-1/2 magnetic impurity in tilted Dirac surface states with the Dirac cone tilted along the $k_y$-axis. We mainly study about

### Two relativistic Kondo effects from two HQETs

• Physics
• 2020
We investigate two different types of relativistic Kondo effects, distinguished by heavy-impurity degrees of freedom, by focusing on the energy-momentum dispersion relations of the ground state with

### Chiral separation effect catalyzed by heavy impurities

• Physics
• 2021
We investigate the influence of Kondo effect, namely, the nonperturbative effect induced by heavy impurities, on the chiral separation effect (CSE) in quark matter. We employ a simple effective model

### Kondo effect with Wilson fermions

• Physics
Physical Review D
• 2021
We investigate the Kondo effect with Wilson fermions. This is based on a mean-field approach for the chiral Gross-Neveu model including four-point interactions between a light Wilson fermion and a

### Spin-orbital magnetic response of relativistic fermions with band hybridization

• Physics
• 2020
Spins of relativistic fermions are related to their orbital degrees of freedom. In order to quantify the relativistic effect in systems composed of both relativistic and nonrelativistic fermions, we

### Random matrix model for the QCD Kondo effect

We propose a novel random matrix model that describes the QCD Kondo effect. The model correctly implements both the chiral symmetry of light quarks and the $\mathrm{SU}(2)$ spin symmetry of heavy
