Fibroblast growth factors (FGFs) are secreted molecules that activate the RAS/mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling pathway. In zebrafish development, FGF signaling is responsible for establishing dorsal polarity, maintaining the isthmic organizer, and cardiac ventricle formation.
