MicroRNA319 (miR319) family is one of the conserved microRNA (miRNA) families among diverse plant species. It has been reported that miR319 regulates plant development in dicotyledons, but little is known at present about its functions in monocotyledons. In rice (Oryza sativa L.), the MIR319 gene family comprises two members, Osa-MIR319a and Osa-MIR319b. Here, we report an expression pattern analysis and a functional characterization of the two Osa-MIR319 genes in rice. We found that… Expand
MicroRNA319 Positively Regulates Cold Tolerance by Targeting OsPCF6 and OsTCP21 in Rice (Oryza sativa L.)
TLDR
It is found that overexpressing Osa-miR319b in rice resulted in wider leaf blades and delayed development, and the down-regulation of OsPCF6 and OsTCP21 resulted in enhanced tolerance to cold stress, partially by modifying active oxygen scavenging. Expand
miR394 and its target gene LCR are involved in cold stress response in Arabidopsis
TLDR
Both miR394 and its target gene LCR are involved in plant response to low temperature, and transcripts of CBF1, CBF2 and CBF3 were increased in the 35S :: MIR394a plants relative to the wild-type, suggesting that miR395-regulated cold tolerance was involved in the CBF-dependent cold responsive pathway. Expand
The miR396b of Poncirus trifoliata Functions in Cold Tolerance by Regulating ACC Oxidase Gene Expression and Modulating Ethylene-Polyamine Homeostasis.
TLDR
This study demonstrates that ptr-miR396b positively regulates cold tolerance through reducing ACO transcript levels, thereby repressing ethylene synthesis and simultaneously promoting polyamine synthesis, leading to enhanced ROS scavenging. Expand
Overexpression of Lsi1 in cold-sensitive rice mediates transcriptional regulatory networks and enhances resistance to chilling stress.
TLDR
It is found that continual chilling led to chlorophyll and RNA degradation in wild-type Dular leaves, whereas leaves from a Lsi1-OX line exhibited no obvious changes, suggesting that when overexpressed Lsi 1 in cold-sensitive rice, it possibility regulates the transcription factor OsWRKY53 in addition to the genes involved in the ROS metabolism, thus mediating resistance to chilling stress. Expand
Role of microRNA319 in creeping bentgrass salinity and drought stress response
TLDR
A comprehensive hypothetical model about the role of miR319 in creeping bentgrass response to salinity and drought stress was proposed and HKT gene families involved in salt exclusion mechanisms as well as mechanisms controlling the timing of gene expression network are hypothesized to play an important role in this pathway. Expand
Overexpression of OsAGO1b Induces Adaxially Rolled Leaves by Affecting Leaf Abaxial Sclerenchymatous Cell Development in Rice
TLDR
Overexpression of OsAGO1b caused adaxially rolled leaves and a series of abnormal phenotypes, such as the reduced tiller number and plant height in rice, and it is proposed that OsAGE1b may regulate the abaxial sclerenchymatous cell differentiation by affecting the expression of OSHBs in rice. Expand
MiR319 mediated salt tolerance by ethylene
TLDR
Crosstalk is shown between miR319 and ethylene (ET) for increasing salt tolerance in switchgrass and the results enrich the understanding of the synergistic effects of the miR 319‐PvPCF5 module and Ethylene synthesis in the salt tolerance of switchgrass, a C4 bioenergy plant. Expand
The opposite roles of OsmiR408 in cold and drought stress responses in Oryza sativa
TLDR
Comparisons of wild type and transgenic lines found that OsmiR408 overexpression conferred enhanced cold tolerance at both the early seedlings stage and the young seedling stage, and opposite roles of OsmoR408 in plant responses to cold and drought stresses are suggested. Expand
Identification and Characterization of microRNA319a and Its Putative Target Gene, PvPCF5, in the Bioenergy Grass Switchgrass (Panicum virgatum)
TLDR
This work identified and characterized a miRNA gene, Pvi-MIR319a, encoding microRNA319a in switchgrass and cloned a putative target gene of PvPCF5, a nuclear-localized protein with transactivation activity and control the development of leaf from switchgrass. Expand
Suppression of Jasmonic Acid-Mediated Defense by Viral-Inducible MicroRNA319 Facilitates Virus Infection in Rice.
TLDR
It is suggested that the induction of miR319 by RRSV infection in rice suppresses JA-mediated defense to facilitate virus infection and symptom development and treatment of rice plants with methyl jasmonate alleviated disease symptoms caused by R RSV and reduced virus accumulation. Expand
