We previously demonstrated that the overexpression of endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) in the rostral ventrolateral medulla (RVLM) decreases blood pressure, heart rate (HR), and sympathetic nerve activity and that these effects are enhanced in stroke-prone spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHRSP).
