BACKGROUND The enzyme 11-beta-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 1 (11beta-HSD1) catalyzes intracellular glucocorticoid reactivation by conversion of cortisone to cortisol in different tissues and have been implicated in several metabolic disorders associated with obesity.
