Thymomas are infrequent, although they are the most common neoplasms in the anterior mediastinum. They are slow-growing tumors that may involve surrounding structures by direct extension. In these aggressive cases, intrathoracic recurrences are frequent. However, distant metastases are uncommon, the most common sites including liver, lymph nodes, and bones.
