In September 1951 be began hi~ professional studies at Marquette Dental School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and was graduated in June 1955 with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. In August of 1956 he entered the Army with the rank of Captain and was stationed in Kaiserslautern, Germany. In September of 1956 he was appointed base oral surgeon and remained in that capacity until completion of his tour of duty in August 1958.
