Prolonged microgravity experienced by astronauts is associated with a decrease in bone mineral density. To investigate the effect of microgravity on differentiation of osteoclasts and osteoblasts, we used a NASA-recommended, ground-based, microgravity-simulating system, the Rotary Cell Culture System (RCCS).
