Hydroxyapatite ceramic made of bovine spongiosa was used as structural support material in a prospective study to correct bone defects experienced after reduction in distal radius fractures. The study took place over a 3-year period (1992-1999) and comprised 14 patients. Osseous integration was analyzed via biopsies and magnetic resonance imaging.
