Recently, solitary waves characterized by a mutual locking of the fundamental and second harmonics in quadratically nonlinear media attracted a lot of attention @1‐10#. The study of these localized waves is strongly complicated by the fact that the evolution equations of the system are not integrable and even stationary solitary waves have to be determined numerically @5#.
