Origin of rate-acceleration in ester hydrolysis with metalloprotease mimics.

Mimics of carboxypeptidase A, a prototypical metalloprotease, were synthesized by linking macrocyclicpolyamines to the primary side of beta-cyclodextrin followed by complexing with Zn(II).
