The influence of the outer angle, friction conditions and deformation dead zone (DDZ) on inhomogenous behavior during equal channel angular pressing was investigated by a grid experiment and finite element analysis. For a given strain-hardening metal, shear deformation is not obviously found near the inner and outer surface of the die inlet. The larger the outer angle, the smaller the DDZ area.
