Abstract Nitration of octaethylporphyrin with Zn(NO 3 ) 2 , 6H 2 O in acetic anhydride yields mono-, di-, tri- and tetranitrooctaethylporphyrinatozinc(II). Vilsmeier reaction of copper(II), nickel(II), and palladium(II) octaethylporphyrin complexes yields monoformyl-(Cu II , Ni II , and Pd II ) and diformyl(Cu II ) derivatives.
