Organizing and Investing to Expand Primary Care Availability with Nurse Practitioners

Abstract

This paper delineates the crisis facing the country because of a growing shortage of primary care physicians. It proposes an organizational and patient satisfying solution for expanding practice by the growing number of nurse practitioners who are trained and motivated to provide primary care. To succeed, this primary care model will require the involvement of supportive business oriented management organizations and/or services to expedite and assist nurse practitioners in this role.
