  • An organic chemistry approach to the mechanistic elucidation of iron acquisition in graminaceous plants is introduced here. To elucidate this detailed mechanism using phytosiderophores, the efficient synthesis of 2'-deoxymugineic acid (DMA), a phytosiderophore of rice, was established.
